AIKEN — The Aiken County Public Library may have quiet zones, but the Friends of the Aiken Library are gleefully unveiling a new logo and website to kick off a friend drive.

The new logo gives a nod to Aiken’s unique history and culture with a glasses-clad fox reading a book while the redesigned website aims to provide more Information on all that the Friends of the Library do and inspire more community members to support the Aiken Library by becoming a Friend.

“The Aiken County Public Library is more than rows of books,” said Friends of the Library President Marilyn Palladino. “With programs that foster learning and connection for all ages, the Aiken Library is a vital community hub.”

The Friends of the Aiken County Library support numerous educational, recreational and social programs year round. Popular enrichment programs include storytimes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers; book clubs for kids and adults; robotics for tweens and teens; and painting and gardening clubs for teens and adults. Other popular events range from knitting and crafts to foreign languages and discussions.

“For more than 50 years, the Friends of the Aiken Library have helped fund the programs that educate, inspire and nurture,” said Palladino. “While the Aiken library has been blessed with recent donations for much needed building upgrades, program costs have doubled because of recent budget cuts. It’s the support from our community members that fund the wonder that happens within the walls.”

“The Friends of the Library invite the community to visit the new website, learn what we do, check out the library’s current wish list and ultimately become a Friend,” said Palladino.

The Friends of the Aiken Library offer various Friend levels starting at $25.

“We’re encouraging members of the community to not only become a Friend at their comfort level, but to do so by Dec. 31 to qualify for a 2025 tax deduction,” said Palladino. Year-end gifts ensure inclusion as a 2026 Friend of the Library.

The Friends of the Aiken Library enlisted the help of Aiken-based Beckham Ruff Creative to redesign the Friends of the Library logo and website.
