Organized in 1974, the Friends helped fund the library’s move from the Dibble Memorial Library to Banksia Mansion in 1975 and to its current location in 1990.
In 1990, The Friends renovated the current building into a larger and improved library. Then in 2019-2021, the latest modernization reconfigured the library’s space into an up-to-date, well-designed library befitting the education and cultural needs of current Aiken.
Aiken is fortunate to have our library located in the historic district, close to downtown and housed in a historically significant building.
