Our Impact

The Friends financial support enables the library to reach more people with more services. Just in the past 16 years, the Friends have donated over $650,000 to the Aiken Library.  Examples of Friends support:

  • $13,000 for library programs, including the popular children’s summer reading program and Staff Development Conferences in Columbia and Chicago
  • “Read 1,000 books before Kindergarten” program
  • $105,000 for a new Bookmobile to serve rural populations
  • $17,500 for design work for this planned major library renovation
  • $350,000 for renovation work
