A Great Community Deserves a Great Library!

For over a century, this historic building has helped educate generations of Aikenites.  The Aiken Institute previously was an elementary and high school. Over 30 years ago, part of it underwent renovation to become the Aiken County Library.

Vibrant communities like Aiken know that to attract new businesses and families while educating each new generation, a modern library is a necessity, not a luxury, as well as a matter of great civic pride.

The Friends of the Aiken Library have partnered with Aiken County Government, to fund the first major improvement in over 30 years. This multi-million dollar renovation combines community input with the latest trends in library design to create a facility that can educate future generations in fun and exciting ways.

Supporters can be permanently recognized for investing in Aiken’s future. Choices include engraved bricks, grandchildren’s plaques or naming a part of the library.
